This is a list of buildings covered by the energy and water benchmarking ordinance. This dataset includes the community greenhouse gas emissions data for Evanston as a community in detail. The municipal emissions inventory is included but only as lump sums and individual emission source data for the municipal inventory is not yet available. The City anticipates released a separate municipal inventory in June, 2019. The City of Evanston has inventoried and maintains over 34,000 trees located on City property and in the parkways.

The Evanston Energy and Water Benchmarking Ordinance (33-O16) requires all buildings in Evanston 20,000 square feet and greater to track and report their annual energy and water data to the City. The City then tracks this data and publishes it annually to show how energy and performance have changed over time. This dataset includes 2019 calendar year data for each City, Type I, Type II and Type III building that complied with the ordinance.
